Dr. CC
Dr. CC (née Candace M. Moore) is a gifted communicator, storyteller, researcher, and media contributor with a passion for empowering the next generation.
She excels in helping high profile brands and individuals effectively convey their story, enhance + restore their image, and become their absolute best.
Endowed with an entrepreneurial mindset, Dr. CC served as the first in roles at several organizations, including the first strategic communications leader at the national headquarters of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated—the most prominent African American family organization—located in Washington, D.C. and the first Senior Communications Director at a Maryland multiracial/multiethnic megachurch. She is also a published journalist who has contributed various articles to the Richmond Times Dispatch, Diversity in Ed Magazine, and multiple educational newsletters. Throughout her career, she has written over 100 press releases and stories, while attaining and/or managing placements for her clients in Essence, The Wall Street Journal, HBCU Times, Black Enterprise, The Baltimore Business Journal, Blavity, The Afro American, and multiple local news sources in top media markets.
In collaboration with colleagues in positions at two K-12 school systems, she received a 2011 Virginia Tech Excellence in Education Award for the “Finding Futures on Facebook” initiative and 2016 National School Public Relations Awards for a successful school division marketing initiative to recruit highly qualified teachers.
Dr. CC has extensive education in communications, attaining her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Communication from Regent University to deepen and broaden her understanding of the complexity of communications from a Christian worldview. In addition, she received her Master of Arts in Public Relations from Ball State University, and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications and English from Virginia Union University.
Her professional and academic scholarship interests are celebrity, fashion as communication, visual representations, media, culture, race, gender, and faith - primarily Christianity.
Dr. CC’s dissertation entitled, “Celebrity Pastors Designer Fashion Representations on Instagram: A Qualitative Star Studies Analysis Applying the Sociology of Impression Management, Visual Communication, and Semiotics” was a conceptual, innovative work exploring the intersection of Christianity, culture, and scholarship. By request, her dissertation was reviewed by Dr. Jane Stokes, an accomplished communication scholar, collegiate instructor in the United Kingdom, and author of “How to do Media and Cultural Studies” which Dr. CC cited in her work. Dr. Stokes stated that the dissertation was “thorough, highly competent, extremely interesting, and that she thoroughly enjoyed reading the work.”
Dr. CC’s has presented academic papers at the 2017 Association for Education in Journal and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Regional Conference at the University of Oklahoma on the messaging of interracial couples in Ebony Magazine (from the 1950s-2000s), as well as the portrayals of Black men in Kehinde Wiley artwork. She also contributed a book chapter entitled, “Celebrity Response to the Take-a-Knee/NFL Protests,” in Pro Football and the Proliferation of Protest: Anthem Kneeling and Standing in a Divided America (Lexington, 2019). Moreover, while at Regent, she completed a study abroad course on Christian theologian and scholar C.S. Lewis in Oxford, England in 2018.
As a speaker, Dr. CC has inspired youth and young adult groups in Los Angeles, throughout areas of North Carolina, as well as her home state of Virginia. In 2013, she also appeared on The Pastor’s Study Radio Show (now called “The Crew”) in an episode about women and modesty in church. As a missionary and volunteer, her heart for the nations has carried her to short-term service assignments Haiti, Nigeria, and Uganda. She also served as a mentor to high school juniors and seniors with iMentor Baltimore.
Personally, she loves traveling, live concerts, shopping, arts and culture, musem exhibits in her areas of interests, amazing food, water, a good latte, and dance fitness—so much so that she became a Certified MixxedFit Instructor in 2025.
